about the fun & pro – Ski School and Ski Hire in Flachau

This is where we answer frequently asked questions about our courses and online booking. If there is anything else you would like to know, please get in touch. We are locals, we know our stuff, that’s our job as winter sports pros and we love doing it.

Do I have to book in advance?

Do I have to book in advance?

We recommend you book in advance for the busiest weeks during the holiday season. This will guarantee your place in a course or your private lessons. It may not always be possible to book everything immediately on site, as we do not have an infinite number of ski instructors.

But you will certainly be able to get your equipment even without a reservation.

What are the advantages of booking online?

  • SKI SCHOOL - HIRE - DEPOT - SHOP: Everything in one shop in the centre of Flachau near the main lifts Star Jet I and Space Jet I.

  • RESERVATIONS POSSIBLE UP TO 3 DAYS BEFORE ARRIVAL

  • Availability at all times – no waiting time at peak times.

  • Convenient payment by credit card (Visa, Euro-Mastercard, instant payment)

  • Registration and payment have been completed, making your stay on site less stressful. The course location is certainly available at the desired time and the equipment only needs to be tried out and adjusted.

  • 5% early booking bonus when booking courses and private lessons* up to 30 days before the course starts.

  • 5% early booking bonus on our packages (course + hire) when booking up to 30 days before the course starts.

  • 10% early booking bonus on equipment hire if booked up to 3 days before the start of the hiring period*.

  • When booking a course and equipment hire – free ski storage (no boots) for the duration of the course (no lockers).

You will receive an automatic booking confirmation as soon as you have completed your booking. Please bring the confirmation with you. Equipment and course tickets can be picked-up the day before. We will check your reservation and let you know if something hasn’t been booked properly. If everything is in order, we won’t contact you again.

  • No discounts will be granted on vouchers, lunchtime supervision, depot and family packages.

Guests who are already registered with us will get the early booking rates even if they book at short notice or on site. For online bookings within the 30-day period, please request the "Friendslink" or access our website via the fun & pro platform link. Early booking bonus and regular customer discount cannot be combined.

How does de categorization work ?

The level should be selected that it corresponds to the current ability. For children and adults who have already been with us, the level is shown in the profile on the fun & pro platform or in the Dinopass.  If you are booking online for the first time, videos are available for self-assessment.

When booking again, the participant starts in the registered skill level, e.g. Dino 4 Blue, if this has been completed. If you book the next level, you will be placed in a group that can already ride what you want to learn. The aim is for the participant to reach 5 or 6 red at the end of the course. The new rating is then entered in the profile by the ski instructor at the end of the ski course.

It is important to know that this is only a preliminary classification. On the first day on site, we check how the group fits together and make changes. Please avoid grading higher than the ability level. This will prolong the course organisation on the first day.

From what age can my child attend a ski course?

Skiing at fun & pro starts at the age of 3 in the ski kindergarten (mini dinos). Our package includes lessons for 2 hours from 10 am until 12 noon as well as the equipment for the whole day.

Full-day courses are offered from the age of 4. The course lasts from 9.30 am – 12 noon and from 1 pm – 2.30 pm.

Is there also a half-day course?

Fun & pro does not offer half-day courses. A mixed course (half-day and full-day students) is not a good idea as the group dynamics suffer. To learn to ski, beginners need a full-day course, otherwise the time is too short to consolidate what they have learned. The next time you go skiing, they would then have to start again in the beginners’ course.

Lunchtime supervision can be booked as an option.

Is there also lunchtime supervision and where does this take place?

Lunchtime supervision can be purchased on site and costs 18 euros per child per day for food and supervision. We are in following restaurants:

  • Beginner and practice lift groups at Star Jet eat at the "Zum Zottl" restaurant

  • Beginner and practice lift groups at Space Jet eat at the "Dampfkessel” restaurant

  • Groups who cannot ski the red slope down into the valley eat at the "Jandlalm" at lunchtime

  • All advanced groups who can ski the red slopes are split between the "Zum Zottl" and "Dampfkessel” restaurants. The group ski instructor will tell you where and at what time they will eat with the group.

Please pick up children who have not booked lunch supervision at the designated meeting point.

From what age do children need a ski pass and how much does it cost?

All beginner children can ski for free on the conveyor belts at the fun & pro Kinderland. As soon as children start skiing using the lifts, all children aged 6 and over* need a regular ski pass.

For children up to 6 years* there is a free replacement ticket at the lift ticket office.

See the Snowspace Flachau age group regulations.

How many children are in the group?

Group size of at least 4 to 10 children per ski instructor (in exceptional situations up to 12 children are legally permitted).

Can children who are friends be in the same group?

When booking online, videos are available for self-assessment when selecting the level. If there are enogh children, we also  divide the groups according to age.

For children who want to be in the same group, please leave a message in the comment field and preferably come together on the first day for the classification. We start at 9.30 am at the Piggy and Bingo Jet. Each course guest will receive a link to the fun & pro platform with the exact meeting point by e-mail before the course starts. Please check again the day before. Changes can be made on site if necessary.

What does my child need for the ski course?

Your child will need clothing, tights and ski socks to suit the weather so they don’t get cold feet. Please don’t forget sunglasses or ski goggles, gloves and sunscreen. Ski trousers with an anorak are ideal, as this makes it easier for the kids during toilet breaks. You can find practical accessories in our shop.

Please note – helmets are compulsory for children up to 14 years of age. A helmet is included in the price at fun & pro. If you do not have a helmet, please organise one before the course starts.

No poles are needed in play lessons or for beginners. Children who have already mastered the plough turn and ski lifts need poles.

Is it possible to join a ski course during the week?

The groups are generally divided up on Sundays and Mondays. Beginners can only start on these two days. For groups of 4 people or more, the course can start at any time.

Advanced students can also join an existing group from Tuesday to Friday. Saturday is a course-free day. Private lessons are an option.

Which languages do the fun & pro ski instructors speak?

Group courses are generally held in German and in English. Of course, we do have Dutch and Danish-speaking instructors. But it is difficult to offer all the different levels in every language. Please appreciate that we first try to find the right teacher for all the smaller kids. More information is available in our fun & pro shops!

What kind of events do you offer?

  • Children’s Après-Ski Party: Every Wednesday after the ski course with our Dino, music and entertainment programme!

  • Final race at both locations on Thursday. Advanced learners all start on Thursday morning at Space Jet I. The award ceremony is at 3 pm at the fun & pro tent at each location.

Will course costs be refunded in the event of illness or an accident?

An online reservation cannot be cancelled free of charge, as this also entails work and costs for us. We hold online reservations until 6 pm on the day of the reservation. The reservation loses its validity after this deadline and the payment is forfeited in our favour if the reservation is not taken up.

What are the cancellation fees?

Cancellation policy for equipment and courses:

  • up to 7 days before arrival: 95% refund.

  • From 6 to 1 days before arrival: 90% refund.

  • No refund from start day or no-show by 6 pm.

The remainder will be refunded. For this we need your bank details (IBAN).
